Which school has the best scramble team?

COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF... BUT MAKE IT GOLF

A bunch of social accounts collab'd on the post above this week, listing out some hypothetical rosters of two-man teams based on what school they attended. And I've always wished this kind of team-based format would be used in any sport really. Imagine the golf, but also imagine a 3-man tournament at the NBA All-Star Break where colleges put a team of alums together. Kentucky vs. UNC vs. Duke vs. UConn vs. Kansas...and on and on. Super fun and so much better than the freshman v. sophmores next gen gimmick they try.

For golf, however, here's who I'd imagine take the top three:

3) Wake Forest—Cam Young & Alex Fitzpatrick

Alex has been ON ONE this season and definitely broken away from the lesser younger brother image he had after that first season of Full Swing where we saw him get dragged along by his brother Matt.

2) SDSU—Xander & JJ Spaun

JJ is a stud #2 and honestly could see them challenging the top team if a few small things broke their way.

1) Texas—Scottie & Jordan

Can't go against Scottie and literally whoever they paired him with. But Jordan's volatility, depending on format, could also be a cheat code as Scottie smooths over some of the "And now we join Jordan on the 13th" meme moments.

A GOLF CLUB FOR KIDS

News this week out of Charleston was the announcement of a brand new golf course concept where the only members allowed are kids aged 5-18.

Yes, the First Tee of Charleston is planning a kids-only golf club! The only way adults are allowed on is by accompanying a member. The program plans to raise $14 million for the facility and is reportedly already over 70% of the way there.

Founded in 2008, First Tee - Greater Charleston serves more than 25,000 kids each year, aiming to expand acces to golf across the area. The head of the organization was inspired when they visited North Berwick in Scotland and the plot of land used for the kid’s course there (and the stipulation requiring all adults be accompanied by a kid.)

The plans include a playground near the clubhouse and I can't tell you how on board I am for this concept and the moment I come into REAL money... you know I'll be looking to replicate this in San Diego.

HOLLYWOOD IS GOLF-CRAZY

Deadline announced that production has begun on ANOTHER new golf project out of Hollywood. This one is called Golf Trip and stars comedians Tom Segura, Andrew Santino and Timothy Simons alongside Sinqua Walls, Heather Graham, and John Stamos.

The rundown from Deadline:

In Golf Trip, three best friends have their annual golf trip ruined when they’re paired with the universally dreaded single.

For 20 years, four best friends have held onto one sacred tradition: their annual golf trip. No matter how much their lives have changed, the trip has remained the one weekend they can count on to reconnect, compete and briefly escape the pressures of adulthood.

But when one of the four drops out at the last minute, the remaining three arrive at a picture-perfect golf resort only to be paired with Chuck Wheeler, an aggressively friendly, completely unfiltered solo golfer with no sense of personal boundaries. What should be a relaxing weekend quickly veers off course as Chuck inserts himself into the group and tests the limits of their patience.

Honestly, cast is promising and I actually might have the highest sense of optimism for this project over any other golf show/movie to date. Fun fact... Kevin Hart's production company is behind it as he continues his all-out obsession with golf.

Put your niche knowledge to the test

WE GOT A RORY SAVANT ON OUR HANDS

Golf Digest surfaced this clip from the BBC show Mastermind where a contestant showed off their savant-level knowledge of all things Rory McIlroy.

The show has been running since the 70s and allows contestants to select the niche topic of their choosing for a round of trivia questions to put them to the test. They then have to answer questions about another random topic and I guess after all that, a winner is chosen.

In a world of absolute chaos on American television game shows, BBC gives the same energy as a flip phone. Understated, slow, and refreshingly uncomplicated. Got to respect the Brits on this one.

Back to the clip, our girl here knew everything from the golfer who missed a birdie putt in 2007 that allowed Rory to win and earn his Tour card, the exact scores he shot during The Open in 2011, and even who he bought his house from in Florida.
