“It’s a little dangerous if you’re not paying attention. And I don’t like to pay attention a lot.” - U.S. Solheim Cup team assistant captain Kristy McPherson on Netherlands biking culture as fans were encouraged to bike to the course to watch the action this weekend. The event organizers are allowing no car service, parking or ride share at the course—meaning only shuttles and bicycles allowed. So Dutch of them.
What a Grand Prize!
NEXT LEVEL STAKE(S) FROM TACO BELL

I've always been a beef over steak guy at Taco Bell until the latest announcement of their Live Más Open—because these STAKES are incredible. (I won't share quite how long it took me to even arrive here on the Steak/Stakes word play. Time well spent, nonetheless.)
Before I get into the rest of the details, the headline is that the eventual champions of this Taco Bell run golf tournament in November will win a championship trophy, purple jackets and the opportunity to play a part in a menu item comeback to Taco Bell menus. In fact, the only thing that could be cooler than resurrecting a fan favorite would be a guided exploration at the Taco Bell test kitchen and actually create your own brand new menu item... Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Crunchwrap anyone?
I'll let the press release do the talking on what's in store for the tournament itself. "Celebrities, pro athletes, creators and fans will tee it up together, with wild-card challenges shaking up the on-course action and plenty of unexpected antics along the way. And those spots alongside the stars are up for grabs: starting today through September 27, eligible golfers of all skill levels can head to Topgolf venues nationwide for a chance to be considered for one of just nine coveted places in the tournament field."
Kevin Hart will host the event, riding his golfing content wave well. "I love golf, I love Taco Bell, what could be better than bringing them together for a day of competition and fun,” said Kevin Hart, host of Live Más Open. “The tournament is going to be a good time – bring your swag, bring your swing, bring some personality and let’s play.”
The event will take place at a pretty sweet 9-hole track in Orange County called The Ranch at Laguna Beach and will be streamed in late November. So anyone interested... probably should pop over to Top Golf and give it a shot.
The Block News Drip Continues
7 IRON FOR A CAR

Michael Block has a knack for knowing just when to poke his head out again and stay in the news. I feel like he's on a quarterly schedule maybe?
The story here is that he apparently sold his hole in one 7 iron from the '23 PGA Championship and purchased the Mustang you see above. Complete with the SVNIRON license plate.
And while this wasn't a "trade up" challenge per se, I do think of all the social media hooks that have come and gone—the "trade up" challenge would be something I could knock out of the park. My issue now is the time it requires. I'm confident that through Facebook Marketplace I could easily value my way up from like a pet rock to a 7 night golf trip with my buddies.
Case in point, my wife found this wooden vintage tennis sign on Marketplace for like $40 from someone clearing out their man cave. Turns out, it's worth like $500 because it's from some obscure tennis folk artist or something. It now hangs in the kids' bathroom to match a little tennis thing we've got going on in there... but still—you get it.
Freddy Doing Freddy Things
THE OG AURA KING

Freddy Couples continues to cement his place in the pantheon of golf's coolest people ever. This latest viral clip features Freddy hitting his tee shot at the Sanford Invitational CTP challenge.
He watches it for a bit before turning to chop it up with the bystanders. A few moments pass and his ball continues tracking down the slope, towards the hole, and he cans it. All the while, Freddy remains oblivious to his shot until the crowd erupts.
I haven't fully fleshed out this theory just yet but I'm convinced there is some sort of golfing archetype/horoscope system wherein your inner golfer roughly falls into one of ## categories. As of now, I think Freddy Couples, John Daly, Lee Trevino, Chi-Chi Rodriguez, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Tiger and mayyyybe Phil would be my starting list of archetypes. They'd need to meet a certain threshold of success while also being a distinct personality. Bryson might be the only current golfer with a shot at cracking the list but could see him falling into the golf entertainer category instead.
File this one under half-baked ideas for now.
