Karaoke Night at Presidents Cup
GUESSING THEIR GO-TOS
In the Presidents Cup pressers this week, we got some fun nuggets from the team about the group chat shenanigans, funniest guys on the team, and this gem from Gotterup who shared the rookie's karaoke night picks. A Kanye Heartless from the young gun Koivun certainly was a surprise—and it got me thinking about what karaoke songs some of the other guys from the team would've chosen. So here's my best guess based on personality + karaoke personality.
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER—LIVIN' ON A PRAYER BY BON JOVI
Screams classic rock guy to me, a chorus everyone can get into, and a light sprinkling of faith.
WYNDHAM CLARK—HOT IN HERRE BY NELLY
He appears to be a fairly open, outgoing dude and so a little something nostalgic that skews raunchier feels like the play.
RUSSELL HENLEY—TAKE ME HOME, COUNTRY ROADS BY JOHN DENVER
He gives off country energy to me but I think we're in classics territory here. Can't you just imagine him turning the mic to the crowd as they scream "WEST VIRGINIA!!"?
XANDER SCHAUFFELE—MAN, I FEEL LIKE A WOMAN BY SHANIA TWAIN
Party guy deserves a party song. From the second that first horn plays, he's bringing the energy and will spend the rest of the evening pestering Patrick Cantlay to get on stage and try any song.
The Backyard Games Have Begun
BRYSON THE BEAST
Bryson's latest YouTube play has officially completed the mind meld between him and Mr. Beast—as he introduces the Backyard Games. A series where golf influencers and maybe a few random people compete in 1v1 matches around his home in a match play bracket. The winner will compete against Bryson for $100,000. And if Bryson wins, he will be giving it away to a subscriber.
It's a Shorts series so all the videos are around 2 minutes and, honestly? They're pretty entertaining. And while the tactic is very transparently a subscriber play... I subscribed nonetheless. I attribute the same logic as I do with the lottery. Once that jackpot gets over $500M, I'm buying a ticket. You never know. And as I add my name to the 2.9M+, because you just never know.
It's getting weird now
NOT A FINGA!
Cruising Reddit, I stumbled across this absolutely insane golf off-shoot called Finga Golf. The concept is simple, they make these tiny finger golf clubs and create tabletop holes to compete on. It's like the folded up finger football field goal game you'd play in junior high. Firing off tightly packed paper triangles all over 2nd period history.
(And as an aside to explain the headline for this one—I hope anyone out there who is a Christmas Story fan gets it. The dad screams Not a Finga as he storms out of the house after his wife breaks the infamous leg lamp. Whatever, deep cut but had to stack another weird hat on the weird hat.)
Based off nothing, I feel like I would be excellent at Finga Golf and for only $120 to get the all-in course designer bundle... how could I say no?
A Chicago legend cameo at Medinah
EVERY ROSE GETS HIS... PRESIDENTS CUP ARRANGEMENT?
The Presidents Cup is in my old backyard this week at Medinah CC outside of Chicago. And they leaned all the way in on the Chicago love as Derrick Rose was the one who created the flower arrangement surrounding the trophy.
Yes, Derrick Rose... started a rose shop. Incredible.
Derrick is one of my favorite Chicago athletes and I really don't have much of a deep dive here beyond saying that this story made me smile and hopefully you either are an NBA fan, Chicago native, or enjoy a story that makes you smile.
