"That was our performance enhancer... cookies and milk, would you believe it?" - Ian Muir, the St. Andrews golf coach after both teams made to the finals... or 75% of my kids dinner each night. Either way, can confirm that cookies and milk are indeed performance enhancers as my almost 2 year old endlessly spins in circles in the family room while yelling "SPINNING! SPINNING! SPINNING!". A true thrill seeker it seems.

Rory got a new sponsor

DP WORLD DOUBLE WIDE

Rory McIlroy announced a new sponsor to his already stacked roster this week: DP World. Conveniently timed as he is out in India playing in the DP World India Classic - aka the one with such tight fairways that Rory literally didn't even bring a driver.

But the attention grabber here isn't so much the sponsor as it is the sponsor perk he negotiated out of the deal. That perk? The absolute behemoth double wide pictured above. No, Rory isn't moving in to a retirement trailer park in Florida... that's just Rory's mobile gym. A mobile gym, mind you, that he has gotten DP World to fly over all over the world to follow him on Tour. Dubai? It'll be there. Scotland? It'll be there. Augusta? Probably somewhere near there...

The press release reports: "DP World says the interior of the two new trailers will include strength and cardio equipment, a cold plunge, an infrared sauna and a Hyperice recovery station. The goal: to provide McIlroy with the most luxe tournament training and recovery experience of any golfer, anywhere in the world."

Safe to say that the goal has been achieved. Though already imagining a world where the top tier golfers all negotiate similar deals and rolling up to a golf event will now mean a mini village of double wides like we're on a movie set.

Korn Ferry doing their best DP World Tour impression

CHANNELING MY CHILDHOOD

I've long praised the DP World Tour for their YouTube content because it's always the right blend of golfer personality, quirky competition, wrapped in a digestible YouTube video length. But if the latest from the Korn Ferry Tour is any indication, the DP could be have a decent challenger finally.

In this vid, Andrew Kozan and Jay Card III made up their own putt-putt course inside the (famous?) Cave House in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The two wandered through the eccentric house, chatting with the owner, dropping a little history nugget here and there, all while hitting absurd putts around this 1920's era carnival-like house. Obviously the competition was absurd but it took me back to being a kid on snow days or during thunderstorms where the entire house suddenly became one giant obstacle course/mini golf zone. Sending putts off the second story stairs, all to try and knock it into a cup I'd tucked behind the garbage can in the kitchen.

Making the stunt even more fun, I discovered that it was all to celebrate the final leg of the KFT's Route 66 Cup. A four-event series following Route 66 which offers participants a $66,000 bonus. I don't give them enough credit for the weird little twists like this—they're going full on minor league baseball on me and I had no idea. The prize purses are tiny, the names are either unknown or about to be huge, the cities tend to be more flyover than marquee... but the storytelling involved? Elite.

Dipping my toe back into video games...

I JOINED THE TOUR, WELL, A TOUR!

I forget where I came across this game, some golf media outlet wrote about it... but Executive.golf is a browser based golf game and I'm already hooked. It's got the classic click to stop the dot within the target style controls and plenty of functions I've barely dug into.

But it SEEMS like you can challenge other users, log weekly league play, and earn points to upgrade your character (like every other golf game, I guess). I went one under on my first nine holes of league play and while the putting is going to need some getting used to, and all measurements are in meters, I took WAY too much satisfaction from draining a 12 footer for birdie.

Anyone else playing this? Want to make a Breakfast Balls league with me? I bet I can convince HQ to give away some prizes if we turn this into a thing.

Club Up Design is BACK

WORLD SERIES—BUT MAKE IT GOLF

My ears always perk up anytime @clubupdesign posts a new sports franchise made into golf course aesthetic. And he has been ripping recently with the lead up to the World Series. With the Brewers officially sweeping the Dodgers, had to show some love to the design work here.

Super clean, and even as a Cubs fan, I have to admit that the scorecard especially hits hard. Go give him a follow if you haven't already!
