"It's only a point." - Roger Federer delivering a commencement speech at Dartmouth, speaking to the (very relevant to golf) idea of committing to what's in front of you but once the "point" is passed, let it go and move forward... or me waffling between taking the Chiefs spread this Sunday or riding the Eagles moneyline and rooting against greatness.

*Note - click through the link above for the Reddit clip, joking aside it's a really encouraging and tight speech.

Wow, what a trophy wall

RYDER CUP, MASTERS JACKET, TOTO TOILET?

First saw this story on Golf Digest but the original article from The Scotsman had the better headline so we'll link ya there instead

Scottish golfer feeling flushed as her 'all singing, all dancing toilet' finally arrives

27 months after winning the TOTO Japan Classic on the LPGA Tour, Gemma Dryburgh finally received her prize—from the looks of it, a Neorest NX1. Toto's premium level offering that the website describes as:

The sophisticated elliptical silhouette is inspired by the simple, organic beauty of an earthen vase hand thrown by a craftsman on a pottery wheel. The artistry of these soft curves and smooth surfaces is found throughout the new NEOREST Collection.

Sure, I can see that.

Why the 27 month wait? No, not a back order situation—Gemma lived in an apartment at the time and apparently just said "you hang onto it for a bit" until she bought a house. The champion treatment.

For those in the market, the toilet has an auto open and close and "pre-misting" feature before you go. Sounds legit—and if you couldn't have, say, a green jacket then I could see it being a solid runner-up option.

(Also, for those with massive charity tournaments looking for what I might consider a hilarious giveaway, send last place a new toilet.)

Speaking of wild purchases

SOLD! TO JIM NANTZ

What do you get the golf broadcast personality who has it all? How about Scottie Scheffler's Yukon with 190,000 miles on it.

Last week, Nantz shared this photo of the Yukon mentioned above—a prize he won for a $50,000 bid at a Triumph Over Kid Cancer fundraising event in Houston last year. They delivered the Yukon direct to his Pebble Beach home.

The story of the Yukon is apparently that Scheffler’s dad bought it while the family was in Augusta, Georgia, to attend the 2012 Masters after their previous vehicle broke down. It was then passed down to Scottie who drove it until his son was born in 2022.

The funniest nugget of the story is that the car has been apparently sitting in their golf course's parking lot this whole time—which I guess is something that they only let fly when you're the #1 ranked golfer in the world.

Another fun fact is that Scottie signed the Yukon and his 2022 Masters parking sticker is still in the window. Beyond that, I have absolutely 0 idea what Nantz is going to do with that car...

Happy Watch 2025

HAPPY GILMORE X FULL SWING

The steady drip of Happy Gilmore 2 hype continues this week as Netflix released a teaser hinting at a crossover between the movie on the upcoming season of Full Swing.

My main takeaway—they are GOING for it on this being a comedy for golfers rather than just a golf comedy.

Rory, Scottie, Bryson, Brooks, Finau, Willy Z, Morikawa—all seem to have a role in the final film and quotes are even indicating that some will play a significant role beyond just walking through a shot.

I've been let down by a LOT of re-boots and sequels of beloved properties (looking at you Arrested Development) but I am getting excited for this whether I like it or not.

And I love the idea that we will get a sneak peek in the Full Swing series of the golfers on set—Netflix is the absolute GOAT of cross-promotion.

I'M A SUCKER FOR THE HGTV SWEEPS

Let me start by saying, I promise I am not in the bag for HGTV here.

Let me also start by saying that I recognize that sweepstakes are insane propositions.

Let me also also start by saying that I am irrationally confident that I will win a sweepstakes or lotto prize one day.

So with that as context, this year's HGTV Dream Home giveaway is set on a private golf course in South Carolina—right by Hilton Head. And I'm already trying to work out the feasibility of moving my entire family from San Diego to South Carolina.

Perhaps what I am feeling in life right now is house fever—akin to baby fever—it's a state of mind that has me checking Zillow more often than Instagram. Perhaps this is because I can feel the walls of our townhome closing in every second of every day as I imagine a world where a second child becomes mobile in this place. And perhaps all it takes for me to fall in love with a home is a hosting-ready outdoor living space and a golf simulator.

And boy does this place check the boxes.
Come on now.

Covered outdoor lounge and living area, a pergola dining table, a grill + pizza oven, and a poolside outdoor fireplace?

Plus a golf garage with simulator for rainy days and covered parking for my golf cart.

And the final embellishment that completely sold me...
If any of you have this in your home—you are officially the fanciest person I know.

A built-in water dispenser for a dog bowl.

'Nuff said. Sign me up, take my data, honey? We're moving to South Carolina.
