"I'm not physically ready yet to compete at this level." - Tiger Woods sharing the latest on his recent injuries and playing status... or me, right now, as it pertains to almost every single physical activity in life.

One of the sneakiest pieces of advice for soon-to-be parents is work out.

One of the sneaky worst, but also maybe genius, business ideas I've had—a daycare/workout gym where parents drop off toddlers and fitness class attendees practice active resistance training as they attempt to pick up said toddler only to watch the kid somehow dislocate both shoulder joints as they reach down to pick them up—turning into 30 pounds of violently wriggling dead weight.

Dead lifts at F45 did not prepare me for this.

Speaking of ready to compete

SO YOU'RE SAYING THERE'S A CHANCE??

A fascinating display of statistical analysis from Lou Stagner for the crew over at Foreplay Pod.

My gut said the % chance would be higher than I think, but I still would've guessed less than 50%.

The real answer? ~81% chance!!

The way he broke it down, the two would play a 6700 or so yard course from the back tees, challenging slope and rating so the 5 handicap would get around 7 strokes if playing net against a normal scratch golfer.

Under the scenario, he assumed Tiger would shoot an average of 63 per round and gave the amateur an average score of 82. And across 72 holes, the amateur would win at least one hole 81%+ of the time.

I mean, I get it. I've played with plenty of fantastic golfers and even I will catch them on a hole or two in a normal round. But when you throw in Tiger, I just assume normalcy goes out the window.

Maybe he wasn't all the great... sorry, Tiger.

Sticking with the podcast source theme...

ALEJANDRO TOSTI IS A WILD MAN

For those of you who don't follow the Tours all that closely, let me introduce one of the most unique personalities of all—Alejandro Tosti.

This dude is bonkers and was notorious on the Korn Ferry for some pretty epic blow ups and tirades—even leading to him getting suspended before he joined the PGA Tour last season. Unfortunately, he did not make the cut last season to remain on the PGA Tour so we will likely see him few and far between moving forward.

That said, I was listening to The Ringer's golf podcast Fairway Rollin' and they had on Brendan Porath—one of the hosts from Shotgun Start (another golf podcast from the Fried Egg crew). On his pod, they did Tosti Tales all last season where they profiled all the wild stuff Tosti did.

The following story almost made me pull the car over—and it has to do with rental cars...
Apparently, Tosti does not agree the concept of rental car companies. Like, at all. It's unclear why as well.

And for a golfer that dedicates their life to constant travel to various remote locations across the country and world, you'd imagine this might cause a bit of an issue.

Not for Alejandro.

My man purchased four beater cars and leaves them in strategic regional locations across the country so that when he needs to be in the area for a tournament, he will fly to that regional location, pick up his car, and then drive wherever.

"But this country is massive. Wouldn't that make zero sense sometimes?" - you ask.

Yep.

Brendan said, for instance, that if he had a tournament in Reno, Nevada—Tosti would fly to San Francisco!!! to pick up his car.

How do these guys even begin these kinds of rituals?? At some point, he had to consciously make the call that he would create this system and then arrive upon four cars as the ideal number to cover the country.

Silly season has begun

ONE GRANT THORNTON, HOLD THE FINAU

This week kicks off what other golf media outlets like to call "Silly Season" as the fall PGA swing is complete and we're treated to a few weeks of different style formats, tiny field competitions like the Hero World Challenge, and the now annual Woods family press tour aka the PNC Championship.

I love the Grant Thornton because it features a pretty loaded field of talent from both the PGA and LPGA—as one pro from each pair up to compete in a 3-day tournament. First round is scramble, second is foursomes and third is modified four-ball.

Golf Channel, NBC and Peacock will air the event and it's worth a watch if you have the time—or watch the re-runs if, say, you have a 3 week old newborn that loves to take his sweet time feeding in the wee hours of the night.

Either way, here are my top three pairings that I'd want to win it.

3) Gabi Ruffels & Nick Dunlap (+1800)
Two newcomers from both Tours and would love to see continued momentum for these newbies heading into next season. Until LIV and PGA come back together, golf is better when you have more people to root for.

2) Lydia Ko & Jason Day (+700)
I can't quit these two. So cool, so decorated, so Aussie.

1) Nelly Korda & Daniel Berger (+750)
Sadly, Nelly's original partner Tony Finau had to drop out for an injury but I've always been a big Berger guy and think this could still be a pretty compelling team.

BB Fantasy Football Update

PLAYOFFS?!?

After an insane finish to the fantasy season that saw 9 of the 12 teams with either a 7-6 or 6-7 record—I totally blanked on sharing the playoff bracket last week. I ALSO blanked on our playoffs starting a week earlier to make room for the week 16+17 combo title game.

Here are your final four teams, Served Fresh Weekly still poised to play spoiler as not a single soul chose myself to win the league.

I'll be taking on the league's lone juggernaut and creator of "banner"—Juandamien Nebraska aka Bad Birdie designer Michael. The ESPN spread puts me as a 22.5 point dog... oof.

On the other half is Bad Birdie Brandon and Bad Birdie Luke squaring off. Only 2.4 points separate these two in what should be a tight one!

So check those receipts and see if you're still live—because the prize payouts are still to come—when we win, you win. Unless I win, and then no one wins. Get it?
