"It brings back a little bit of the kind of childlike nature of the game. And my expectations are so low that it is way easier to be happy about what I'm doing." - Chris Kirk about playing left-handed in the offseason... or my statement to the media when I finally launch my mixed reality Mario Golf league.

A huge Phan of this approach

THE ONLY WAY TO DETERMINE YOUR FANTASY DRAFT ORDER

I don't often find the opportunity to praise Philadelphia sports programs but this was just too good to pass up.

This week, the Phillies held a competition to determine their fantasy football draft order. That competition? A closest to pin challenge from home base to the team's physical therapist dressed in catcher's gear, standing in the outfield.

10/10 idea and wish we'd thought of it for the Bad Birdie office fantasy league this year. Instead, our draft order was determined by a digital 100 yard rush where our players ran across the field like those horse race carnival games where you roll the ball into the hole to move your racer.
The screenshot is a bit blurry, but as you may have guessed, that's my dude still around 10-15 yard line as the 11th place finisher completed the race... I'll say that while coming in dead last in a real race by this margin probably would be the most miserable and embarrassing. Listening to the crew at the office sadly pity your digital racer twin comes in a close second.

A guy wins a championship and still can't catch a break. More on the draft results below plus a little season long contest opportunity for you all to get in on the action this year.

Creator Classic reactions

A LOT TO LIKE—AND IMPROVE

This week was the first Creator Classic—a 9-hole tournament hosted by the PGA at Eastlake ahead of the FedEx finale this weekend. The PGA invited 16 social media golf celebrities—including our very own Micah Morris—to compete.

The format was pretty tight as it featured 8 holes of gross stroke play and the top 4 advanced into a one hole playoff on 18. And it produced a pretty compelling ending where Luke Kwon drained a 15 footer for birdie to seal the win.

At its peak, the live YouTube broadcast hit 110,000 viewers which is pretty impressive considering the Wednesday time slot and for its first iteration.

None of the Barstool crew were in the field but they were lingering around for ceremonial tee shots and commentary—which added a little something for their fans to hold onto. Joel Dahmen was tapped as the not-so-surprising choice of Tour representation on the grounds.

The best post-event commentary I saw pointed out the difference in watching the professional level YouTubers play versus watching the more entertainment focused YouTubers play and how both in the same tournament muddied the waters a bit on what the PGA was going for.

To me, the pro level talent seems like a G-League version of the pro Tour version we got just a day later. So focusing more on the entertainment or simply splitting them into different events or flights may be the future.

Either way, I always appreciate people taking chances on new formats, games, angles on golf—and appreciate it even more when that comes from the actual PGA.

Curious what you all thought, if you watched. Hit me up with what you liked or didn't like as I think there's a real opportunity there for something different and complimentary to the usual Tour stops.

GOLFING PARENT GOALS

On the cusp of bringing Jack to his first-ever golf course this weekend to attempt to play a round with him and my wife in the cart—I thought I'd surface this gem posted by Colorado Golf Blog this week on IG.

This is my not-so-secret goal in life. Is it likely faked? Perhaps. But I still choose to believe!

I've openly solicited advice on getting your kid into golf on this very newsletter—and a bunch of you said that toddlers love to ride along and just hang out/run around out there. Maybe putt a ball or two into the hole as we go. So let's put our money where our mouth is and roll the dice, people!

Over/under on number of holes we play before complete meltdown? 4.5? We chose a short executive/par 3 track near our house in San Diego that by all accounts seems to be family-friendly and has AMPLE tee times after twilight.

A new era may be beginning and I'm starting to get excited.

Want to win a polo?

CHOOSE WHO WILL EARN BB GLORY

Football is BACK! And with it is another edition of the Bad Birdie office fantasy league.

I spent all offseason trying to figure out a way to help you all care about it even half as much as I do—the reigning champion... thank you thank you.

And the answer is simple. Give the people free polos. So that's what we're doing! This season I'm giving you all the chance to choose the winner of our office fantasy league and if you choose correctly, we'll give you a free polo. Simple. Easy. Effective.

Below, I'll share the full team rosters—freshly drafted as of about 20 minutes ago as I write this. Take a perusal, consult the ESPN projections, crunch some numbers—and then click the button at the bottom to submit your pick!

May the odds be ever—in my favor.
I'm sure there are better ways to share this information but screenshots and newsletters is all I got right now.
