Zally gets his dub, then pays homage to the dubs

WHAT ARE THEY GONNA SAY NOW?!

This moment said it all.

As he drained his putt to send this past weekend's FedEx St. Jude Championship to a playoff with Sepp Straka, Zally borrowed from Warriors star Steph Curry and screamed "What are they gonna say now?!"

And I love it for so many reasons.

- Will has had a place in my heart since he first exploded onto the PGA scene due to his wiry frame and uncanny resemblance to the caddy from Happy Gilmore. Was I able to put Zally in Bad Birdie gear? Not yet...

- The confidence in screaming that phrase when you know you still have to win the playoff was world class ballsy. Imagine if he then dropped a double bogey on the first playoff hole and lost. Not ideal.

- After the round, Will admitted that he "couldn't believe he even said that" which meant that the phrase has been on the tip of his tongue for months now after several near misses this season.

- It's so energizing to see pros finally crack their cool-and-collected facade and show true, raw emotion. Not exactly an issue we suffer from here at BBHQ, but on Tour? Ya love to see it.

What we were actually saying now...

TIGER STILL WON THE WEEK

Two golf pop culture haymakers were thrown this week—both by Tiger. Sorry, Zally—even with a win, you still didn't win.

The first is really just hype, but it got me hook, line and sinker. (Shout out to my fishing enthusiast readers out there—I don't personally understand what you see in the activity, but you seem to love it. And I respect that.)

Tiger. Woods. BACK IN A VIDEO GAME.

Much like my actual golf game, Jack has put a serious dent into my video game time. But this is just the video game announcement that'll have me rocking his Baby Bjorn with my foot as I hit bombs with the GOAT.

Golf pop culture haymaker #2

TIGER: THE ALPHA AND OMEGA

Legendary quote from Rory this week as he was asked about the super secret, no one discuss it but everyone talk about it meeting of PGA Pros about "the LIV thing."

"I think it's pretty apparent that whenever we all get in the room there's an alpha in there and it's not me." - Rory

Duh.

Though still so funny to imagine that the same guy who was hobbling out of his PJ (that's private jet for those of you who don't watch Real Housewives or really any of the Bravo canon) in an ill-fitting plaid button down and straight legged jeans could walk into a room of the best PGA Pros and be referred to as an "alpha".

You are watching a master at work.

Oh, what was the outcome of the meeting? Honestly, no one cared nor did they really say. But Patrick Reed sued Brandel Chamblee for $750M for defamation of character. A Beta move, in case you were wondering.

The mashup I never knew I needed

USGA: MASTERS OF THEIR DOMAIN

Peaking behind the curtain of how I write these every week, the most frustrating thing I run into is when news breaks over the weekend and then I have to just sit here like a dope for a full week before I can mention it in BB. Often times, I just ignore it because what else could I say that the internet hasn't already beaten into oblivion?

But as an absolutely diehard Seinfeld fan—this was too clever to not post. So for the handful who didn't see this, kudos to you, USGA, for making this pairing at the US Amateur tournament.

(And kudos to you, Craiggers. $#&% I promised not to make any more Chasing Scratch references, but here I am.)

I'll leave you with this joke from Jerry Seinfeld.

"I have a lot of friends who play {golf} and they love it. Jerry, you would love it. It’s a very challenging game. Yes, I’m sure that it is. It’s also challenging to throw a Tic-Tac 100 yards into a shoe box.”

Challenge accepted.

Top Golf hack of the week

300,000,000 VOLTS OF INCREDIBLE

I thought I heard that getting struck by lightning and making a hole in one were roughly the same insane odds of like 1 in 600,000.

"Samsonite? I was WAY OFF!" (I worry this Dumb and Dumber reference is quickly fading into oblivion and shows my mid-30's age a bit, but let's run it anyways.)

I actually was way off.

A hole in one clocks in at the alarmingly low odds of 1 in 12,500 and lightning at 1 in 16,500. Anywho, kinda makes the whole struck by lightning/hole in one joke a bit ho-hum. But still an incredibly cool video.

Maybe time to close the bays for a bit, though, huh Top Golf?
