Iss. #55 | JR Swish: Future NCAA Golf Champion

Ya got to love an NCAA loophole
J.R. SWISH: FUTURE NCAA GOLF CHAMPION

Huge NCAA golf news this week as J.R. Smith, the 35 year old NBA Champion, finally had his college signing day as he committed to North Carolina A&T State University.

I mean he's even got Schefty coming out of his NFL training camp foxhole to report on it...

To those wondering how this is even possible, J.R. went to the NBA right out of high school and NCAA rules mention that you only lose eligibility in the same sport in which you made money. Meaning that the MILLIONS of dollars made during his NBA career mean absolutely nothing to the NCAA and all report indicate he should be eligible to join the HBCU's golf team!

Truly epic move and I will watch the crap outta these tourneys if this becomes an option. Steph? Ray-ray? Romo? I mean this could become the go-to second career for these athletes right? Kind of mind-boggling.

 But I'm here for it.

A shocking amount on the line.
WYNDHAM IS LOW KEY FIRE THIS WEEKEND

The field for the final PGA Tour event before the FedEx Cup Playoffs begin is this weekend—The Wyndham Championship.

A hotel chain I frankly thought was created by an AI platform as I have yet to see one in person.

Also a hotel chain spelled in a way that guarantees I will never spell it correctly. But anywho, they host this event. And the field has a TON on the line. Headlined by..

WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED TO RICKIE?!

The results of this tourney determine who the top 125 players will be and therefore the field for the Fedex Cup Playoffs. Which means that players around the 125 cut HAVE to play to help guarantee their spot. That list includes a shocking list of who I thought were safe PGA bets...

 Rickie Fowler
Adam Scott
Francisco Molinari
Justin Rose

What happened to these dudes? This could've very well been the top 4 of a Capital One Venture Card Classic event from 2014.

Regardless, it makes for some fun tourney watching this weekend which is always a blessing once major season is over.

And for that, I thank you Wyndam---crap---Windome---crap---WHYNDAM--- I give up.

US Open Schedule for the next like 30 years
CASH IN THOSE AIRLINE MILES PEOPLE

Upon announcing that Oakmont Country Club—aka that course with the weird as f#$& bunkering—will be a US Open anchor course for the next 30 years...

Sports Illustrated put out this handy list of upcoming US open locations so we can clear the dates with all respective wives, husbands, family, future weddings, children's birthdays, grandchildren's birthdays and whatever else may preclude you from going...

 That's it. That's the post.

OH, YOU DON'T KNOW SLUGGER WHITE??

And why would you?

But I truly appreciate the unsung heroes of golf so when this Golf.com article popped up about a rule official of 40 YEARS named Slugger White retiring this season, I had to pay some respect to the man.

Previously a PGA pro on tour, Slugger aka SLUGGY DUBS—OOH I honest to God got chills with that nickname. Wow that's a killer nickname. Note to self for future son's names...

Anyways, Sluggy Dubs retired from the PGA to become a rules official and his FIRST EVER RULING was for Jack Nicklaus.

His final ruling? Bryson... oh, how far he's come.
